Olympic Pole Dancing?

As you all know the Olympics are going on right now in London….

What if sex was included as a sport? Or something sexual… like pole dancing.

That’s right pole dancing isn’t just for strippers anymore.

It’s well on its way to being considered a sport. Further more in 2016  pole dancing may even make it to the Olympics.

And it’s beginning now: on  July 19th &  20th London was presented with the idea of a World Pole Sport Championship. And it wasn’t just women who were competing. Both men and women competed alone and in pairs.

Pole dancing is an incredibly grueling physical activity. Do you see any reason why it should or should not be included in the Olympics? Please weigh in and share your thoughts via the comment section  :)

mmm pole dancing i say yes but if it comes at the expense of a traditional olympic sport like gymnastics or horse riding or table tennis interesting debate i tend to say yes but hope not at the cost of sports with long olympic sports there is no quick release on this lol

    • Aurora

      @ morgan28d,
I don’t see why it would not simply be added, though I do see your point.
It could come at the cost of another sport… wonder what they’d try to swap it out for if so?

As long as they keep it sexy I’m all for it

    • Aurora

      @ Tyler,
Has pole dancing ever not been sexy? Its all sex appeal without the nudity ;)

  3. Robert Lovelace

    Makes total sense to me.
    1. It requires at least a modicum of athleticism.
    2. It is a skill that has to be learned, and even if taught well, not everyone can do it.
    3. It has an artistic element to it.
    4. There is a degree of risk of injury.
    5. Therefore, the TV ratings would be THROUGH THE ROOF!

    • Aurora

      @ Robert Lovelace,
All excellent points, and yes the tv ratings would sky rocket.
Wonder how much a commercial ad would run for during the pole competition series?

  4. azren

it could be done together with the parallel horizontal bars that gymnasts do. Except the bars would be verticle =D

    • Aurora

      @ azren,
Makes sense… I am certainly excited to see if it takes root :)

I’m all for it! As long as I’m the play-by-play commentator and you’re my color commentator (a color commentator is usually the person who is very knowledgeable about the sport like an ex athlete that offers insight and opinion that compliments the play-by-play.) USA, Brasil (being the home country and all) and the Netherlands would be the favorites to win medals. There would be trials to see who makes the team, then have it like a gymnastics team where you have 5 girls who each have a specialty like they do in gymnastics. They would be judged on technical merit, originality and costumes would count in the artistic category. As far as the ads, NBC could charge 6 figures with no problem for an ad.

    • Aurora

      @ Marko,
Insight about pole dancing is an interesting point…
I don’t mean to be crass but I wonder of it would come down to noticing the minute
ab, thigh and butt muscles at work… That would be some VERY interesting commentary!

  9. reciprocity

I can imagine all the prudes having a heart attack at this very idea.

Hang on, that sounds like an excellent reason to suggest it. ;)

    • Aurora

      @ reciprocity,
Yes it would be worth it…
just to watch the conservative protestors in action!

Should pole dancing be in tbe olymoics? Yes, but the winter olympics, I think you can guess why. Its is a sexy sports based talent

    • Aurora

      @ dogmeat,
Of course, there has to be something to heat it all up!

  11. emsy

hmm sure, why not. but it’ll never happen cos people associate it with sexuality :( it is an amazing skill though and requires such strength and fitness. ariel silks would be a great inclusion too. although i feel bad for leering at the olypians already – your lady volley ball team has the nicest rumps and wear the tiniest bikini bottoms. and you look cute as a button in that photo :) xx

    • Aurora

      @ emsy,
It is an amazing skill, one I much admire and am still attempting to learn.
I find both the volleyball and soccer teams very sexy.
Thank you for compliments on the photo :)

aw that’s okay. you always look gorgeous :) do you mind if i ask you a question? on twitter, richard abowitz made a comment about porn stars making violence look graceful in the same way that ballet dancers etc do. i noticed that you agreed as well :( is porn a violent industry? he made a comment that “some actions are physically damaging even if the viewer doesn’t see the violence”. this really freaks me out, cos i don’t want to endorse or fund an industry if it’s unsafe or causing women or men to be subjected to violence. i’ve only heard positive things from people in the industry – is this just a public face vs private reality? i’m a bit alarmed :( x

        • Aurora

          @ emsy,
I know exactly what you are referring to. I followed it a bit on twitter as well.
This is a tough one to answer…
Everyone makes there own choices and there are both violent scenes and non-violent scenes.
Some girls go to work knowing they will be roughed up and might walk away with a few scars.
I was never one of those girls, I am sure most aren’t. However it does exist.
There are certain companies that build themselves around the harsher genre.
It is’t the industry as a whole, but it certainly does exist.
I hope that answers your question, but if it didn’t please feel free to ask more :)
          xo- Aurora

          • emsy

thanks heaps. i feel more relaxed now lol you’re a doll to answer so logically and honestly. some porn sounds really scary :(

          • Aurora

            @ emsy,
            Glad to hear it :)

    • Aurora

      @ lukiebro3,

  13. EnglishboyNick

Can you pole dance Aurora? Id be glued to the screen watching you a sure fire ratings winner!! :) x

    • Aurora

      @ EnglishboyNick,
I wish! I am still learning how to pole dance.
It takes me awhile to really pick up and perfect moves like this.
More reason why I really admire the ladies that do this so well ;) ]

Pole dancing at the olympics gets my vote. Imagine the possibilities: female, male, solo, mixed-doubles, teams…….the mind boggles. The original Olympic events were performed nude. It certainly would be interesting to see a return to that concept…..especially for the winter games. Then there is Aerial Silk performing (a la Belladonna) which would be a treat to watch. And, maybe the best improvement for the Olympics would be a REAL Broad Jump competition.

    • Aurora

      @ KCBushman,
Definitely mind boggling. HUH, had no idea the original Olympics were nude. Crazy. Why was that? What year?
Love aerial silk play… Belladonna would make for an amazing Olympian ;)

  15. Kristin Guttormsen

I have nothing against it being included, but we can’t even let beach volleyball be played in bikinis without huge eruptions (no pun intended) of protest. With the growth of Islamic exceptionism there’s a major force against it from a large number of countries, and not just on Christian puritanical or feminist grounds.

    • Aurora

      @ Kristin Guttormsen,
Really???? I had no idea. Good point.
However, what if the pole dancing was done fully clothed?
Done more in the style of gymnasts rather than strippers…
It could be possible that showing skin will not be condoned but the sport of pole dancing might (maybe).

The last thing that that the Olympic Games need is another “sport” where the winners are chosen by judges (Japan’s leap from 4th to 2nd in the men’s team gymnastics today is a timely reminder of what happens when judges decide the winners and losers). I wasn’t a fan of softball as an olympic sport, but at least the victors were determined objectively. Of course, if you were competing, I might just change my mind.

    • Aurora

      @ Robert Gurik,
So you prefer clear outlined points for the Olympics?

I think it would go very well since I think the 2016 Summer Olympics are in Brazil. Think of all the dance clubs you could train at here and there. I’d love to see you enter that, Im sure Michael Phelps would probably stick around for another 4 years just to see that event and you in it. But just picking a few girls/guys for the US team would be very hard. All those PS (including you), strippers, et.al who enjoy doing it, we’d probably end up sending 4 or 5 teams.

    • Aurora

      @ Geoff,
Brazil would be a great place to debut such a sport!

      • Geoff

It sure would and Im sure you’d enjoying practicing a lot for it while you’re there.

  19. BNIGER

    It is a stupid idea…

    first, what rules would have?
    Which category would have?
already seen much pole dancing and is not intresante to be considered as a sport …

    • Aurora

      @ BNIGER,
I disagree. I think it could be a sport just as much as competitive dancing could be.

  20. BNIGER

PS: when do you tend to come to portugal :D

    • Aurora

      @ BNIGER,
No plans to come to Portugal yet. Though do love to travel :)
